Site visit to Lundy - June 2016

Basically, Lundy Island is a plateau at 128m ASL. Once you are ‘up’ the going is very easy. Our accommodation is within ‘Bramble Villas’ (8) and ‘The Quarters’ (5). The Quarters also has a private back garden where we can erect our aerials an operate from. It also has a fairly large lounge which I hope will act as a Common Room for all of us to gather.  The Quarters is about 100m from the Marisco Tavern and 150m from the Shop and is on the same level with no steps. Bramble Villas is about 400m away, so we will probably need a 2m handie in each of the accommodation units so we can communicate. You may just get a mobile signal from the mainland if you are lucky (or unlucky as the case may be). I have not been able to test 3G coverage but will take the 3G kit.

Walking on Lundy is excellent and the views are stunning. The Island is about 3 miles north to south and about ½ a mile from east to west. For those who wish to partake in other activities there is a range of them available. I will offer further details later.

Currently there are TWO places available, please let me know if you are interested in joining our party - 27th July to 1st August 2017. The dates cover the IOTA Contest for 2017 but this is also intended as a holiday as there are non-amateurs coming as well. You will be free to do as much or as little amateur radio as you (or your other half) wishes!
